On October 1, 2005, about 40 friends of the late Steve Salter (1948-2000) and other UW crew supporters came together at the Porter Boathouse to dedicate a four-oared shell named the "Steve Salter '71". A morning brunch was held in the Community Room before dedicating the shell on the apron between the boat bays and the piers. The warm, clear autumn day and smooth water made the view from the boathouse's second floor Community Room as spectacular as ever for viewing the men's morning practice and the women's Alumni Day Race.
Teammates came from as far away as Virginia, Ohio, California and Washington. Click here for more photos from the celebration.
